Time for next match. This time is it the Minervan tank legion that will face of against the Orks in the form of Bad Moons. Both armies are rather tank heavy so it will be a challenge.

Once again the board was set up to form the outskirts of Nolus Minorus. This time with some ruins dominating the center of the board. The Orks got to choose side and choose the one with the most ruins on. The Minervans choose to deploy most of their forces on the open left flank as well as the two objectives. The Bad Moons on the other hand put thier objectives on the their left flanks in the ruins hoping to make them hard for the tanks to reach while they choose to deploy rather evenly with the flakwaggons spread out to maximise air coverage.

The orks win the initiative. They choose to let the Minervans go first.
The Russ company start with a double move on the Minervan left flank and fire a few pot shots at the small blitz brigade, Destroying one gunwaggon.
The Stompas that had been set up as a garrison choose to double to and marsh towards the Russ company. It fire but all shot misses.

The Conqueror company deployed in the middle advance and fire at the newly exposed stompas. Unfortunately they loose one tank in a rift they had to cross to get close. But it pays off. Two stompas and one dread destroyed and the unit is broken.
The ork big blitz brigade doubles into the open space in the middle of the board and retaliate at the Conquerors. Two shot hit but both bounce of the Conquerors thick armor.
The Minervans Marauders attack the small warband on the ork left flank where they are out of reach of the flakk waggons they just moved with the big blitz brigade. They have incredible bad luck does not manage to kill a single ork with their barrages.
Realizing their exposed situation the small warband double and hide behind some ruins well in reach of the flakk waggons. They however does not have anything to fire at.
The Demolisher company also doubles and move into the center of the field firing at the big blitz brigade. Destroying a gunwaggon.

The small blitz brigade tries to retaliate. Double move and hide behind some ruins while firing at the Demolisher company. However they fail to do any damage.
The Exterminator company realize that most of their soft targets will be on the other flank and does a march that takes them to the border of the ruins.
The ork flyers show a great amount of self restrain and put themselves on CAP.

The big warband makes a double move right into the middle of the battle field hoping to be able to engage the Demolisher company first thing next turn. They also fire with all they have. After 36 dices thrown four actually hits and one does destroy one of the tanks. The orks celebrate with firing some more shots in the air.
The Minervans had a tough choice with he Thunderbolts but choose to assault the big warband to soften it up a bit. However they are intercepted by the ork fighta-bommas and choose to jinx. Still not enough. One Thunderbolt is shot down.
In the end turn is the other Thunderbolt shot down by flak waggons while it try to disengage and the Marauders choose to exit on the orks edge to avoid flying by more AA.

All of the Demolishers are engaged in close combat by orks or nobs and most of the Exterminators got in close combat with battlewaggons. All to deny the tanks to use their superior fire power. In the initial fighting more orks dies than tanks due to their hard armor. But the sheer mass of orks gave then an edge in the resolution. Resulting in all Demolishers whiped out and half of the Exterminators, breaking them.

Things looks good for the Orks. So it does not matter much that the Minervans win the initiative
The bad luck strikes immediately and they fail to activate the Russ Company whoes plan was to move into the Ork half of the battlefield and at the same time try to destroy as many orks as possible. Now they have to choose and choose to destroy orks. They fire at the big blitz brigade. destroying 3 waggons and breaking them.
The fighta-bommas attack the scouts. And by doing so will give AA defense for the small warband in case the Marauders try to do something. They get lucky and destroy two of them. Breaking that formation as well.

The Marauders decide to attack the big warband instead. Killing 3 boys, 1 nob and a grot. Almost breaking the formation.
The Minervans are now out of formations so the orks can move the rest of their formations at will.

The orks win big with Take and Hold and They shall not Pass. The Minervans are utterly broken with no remaining functional formation.
Things went bad for the imperials and it could not all be explained with bad luck, even if some of it was involved. The Minervans was played to aggressive setting them up for the disastrous assault in turn 2 where the entire Minervan center crumbled. They should probably have hold back more in the beginning setting up fire lanes and let the orks come to them. Hopefully they will learn or they will be the punch bag of the league.
